Chris Wells 2nd Dan BJC
Chris joined TMS judo club in June 1994 having retired from playing rugby and after having, sat and watched from the sides as a parent for 12 months whilst his eldest son Greg started as a 7 year old. By early 1995 Chris was assisting Sensei David with the Saturday sessions and had progressed to 2nd Kyu (blue belt) within 15 months of starting Family commitments prevented Chris from grading again for 5 years, however during that period, his 3 other children, Charlotte, Jacob and Ben would all join Greg and Chris on the Saturday sessions. Chris returned to the contest mat in summer 2000 and within 6 months, Chris became the clubs second "home-grown” 1st Dan and a Level 1 coach. With all members of his family now competing, Chris developed his contest knowledge and became an Area Level timekeeper and recorder and an Area Level referee. By Dec 2002 Chris was also a Level 2 coach. The Easter Course 2010 saw Chris promoted to 2nd Dan and in 2012 he was promoted to Regional Level Referee. Chris' main focus is competitions and the training of members in readiness.  He coordinates the clubs entry to all competitions and will happily drive a minibus if needed. Off the mat Chris has been a member of the Cornwall Area committee for 13 years, and served as chair from 2004- 2008 and 2012.  Chris also chairs the Area Events sub-committee responsible for organising gradings, courses and competitions in the area.
